World's Largest Cargo Ship
The world's largest Cargo Ship made its first trip on September 08, 2006. This amazing 1,302 ft long and 207 ft wide cargo ship's origin is Denmark. It can carry a net cargo of weight 123,200 tons. This Cruise travels at a speed of 31 miles/hr and has cargo capacity of 15,000 TEU (1 TEU = 20 ft3 container). This means, the goods arrive four days before the typical container ship traveling at 18 to 20 mph on a China-to-California run. So this behemoth is hugely competitive when carrying perishable goods.
The Cargo has 207' beam and hence it was NOT designed for the Panama or Suez Canal. It is strictly transpacific.
This ship was built in three, perhaps as many as five sections. The sections floated together and then welded. It is named Emma Maersk. The command bridge is higher than a ten story building and has eleven rigs that can operate simultaneously.
This kind of wonderful Cargo ships are the need of the hour and can change the trends of business.
